As 2024 draws to a close, VEIL.AI celebrates a year marked by innovation, collaboration, and significant milestones that have solidified our position in the field of privacy-preserving technologies. From showcasing our next-generation anonymization on international stages to strengthening our collaboration with key partners like Snowflake to enhancing our team with top-tier talent, this year has been pivotal to our growth. As we look toward 2025, we are more optimistic than ever about our role in shaping the future of secure and compliant health data management.
Driving innovation in privacy-enhancing technologies
The year began with a powerful presence at the Radical Health Festival Helsinki in May, where our CEO, Tuomo Pentikäinen, highlighted the critical importance of privacy-preserving data access. Showcasing our next-generation anonymization solutions at one of Europe’s premier health tech events reaffirmed our commitment to innovation and set the tone for an impactful year.
In June, VEIL.AI took a key role in the PHEMS Consortium Meeting, emphasizing our leadership in privacy-preserving health data management. This initiative strengthened our relationships with global partners and showcased our ability to handle complex health data needs.
In July, we continued to demonstrate our role as a leader in privacy-preserving solutions at the WISDOM consortium meeting. This event reinforced collaboration with key partners across Europe to design a novel data framework and new data protection and analysis solutions.
By August, at Kuopio Health Insights 2024, VEIL.AI was at the forefront of discussions on utilizing health data for preventive care. This event underscored our belief that data pioneers must step up to unlock the transformative potential of health data while respecting privacy.
At BiotechX USA in Philadelphia in September and BiotechX Europe in Basel in October, VEIL.AI presented its next-generation anonymization technology. These industry conferences spotlighted our ability to facilitate secure, cross-border data collaborations, particularly in clinical trials and advanced research – all while staying compliant with strict regulations like GDPR, EHDS, and the EU AI Act.
Expanding our global recognition
Our efforts were acknowledged through participation in globally recognized programs and events. In September, VEIL.AI joined the DayOne Health 4.0 Accelerator, selected from over 170 startups. Later, in November, we progressed as one of five, and the only Finnish venture chosen to proceed to the second phase. This prestigious Swiss-based program, backed by e.g.,Novartis, Roche, and the City of Basel, offered invaluable mentorship and resources, further solidifying our position as a health tech innovator.
Also in September, VEIL.AI attended the NOME Tech-Enabling Program in Boston, where we engaged in high-level discussions with industry leaders such as Morten Bødskov, Denmark’s Minister of Business. These dialogues highlighted the challenges and opportunities in trans-Atlantic data collaboration, with our anonymization solutions taking center stage.
In November, VEIL.AI was selected to present at the Tech Tour AI for Health event in Germany in January 2025. The largest tech entrepreneurship and investment community in Europe, Tech Tour will position us alongside industry leaders and investors and open up new doors to fuel growth.
Strengthening partnerships and ecosystems
A highlight in June was our involvement in the Health-X ecosystem development. Partnering with Intel and Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Europe’s largest university hospital, VEIL.AI played a critical role in advancing technological capabilities for the European Health Data Space. This initiative aligns perfectly with our mission to enable secure and seamless access to health data.
In November, VEIL.AI partnered with BC Platform and joined a European tech consortium alongside BC Platforms, Modirum Platforms, and Productivity Leap to develop an EHDS-compliant reference architecture for secure cross-border data collaboration in hospitals. This collaboration fortified VEIL.AI’s position as a leader in data anonymization for the European healthcare market.
In the same month, at SLUSH 2024, we officially announced our partnership with Snowflake and launched the VEIL.AI Anonymization Engine, a Native App on Snowflake. At Snowflake’s booth, our CTO, Timo Miettinen, demonstrated how the app seamlessly integrated into the Snowflake platform. VEIL.AI’s shared vision with Snowflake is clear: to enable secure data sharing and compliance while driving innovation in sensitive data management. Most importantly, the strategic collaboration with Snowflake positions us for significant growth in both the European and U.S. markets.
Investing in our future
Internally, VEIL.AI unveiled a refreshed brand identity in October, aligning our visual elements and messaging with our innovative spirit and forward-thinking approach. We also strengthened our team, welcoming Juha Paakkola as CCO, Rasko Leinonen as VP of Engineering, Susanne Hultsch as Senior Data Scientist, and Anniina Väyrynen as Senior Project Manager. These additions bring deep expertise and energy to accelerate our growth in the next stage.
Looking ahead to 2025

Our collaboration with Snowflake will play a pivotal role in expanding our presence in the U.S. market, where data privacy and compliance are increasingly critical.
